Team Herbst turned out for a black-tie event at the historic Bowery Bank in NYC last week to receive a series of awards for innovation and design over the past year. Norton Core won Silver in Networking, Buoy took home a Gold in Environmental Science and Molekule received Silver in Product Design. Special thanks to Ameer Karim of the Symantec team who made the trip and celebrated with us. Thanks to the non-profit Edison Awards and big congrats to all who helped in making this happen!
Founding partner Walter Herbst officially completed his PhD this month! Finishing a grueling 4 yr odyssey, the tireless design icon just returned from the UK where he completed his dissertation with Coventry University, a leading international school for graduate design studies. Walter's insatiable curiosity and pursuit of design knowledge led him to create a collaboration between Northwestern University and Coventry, U.K. where he studied insights and trends of graduate design curricula around the globe.
We're so very proud of Walter and all that he's continued to achieve in his 50+ years in design. Way to go Walt!
Herbst Produkt is selected to receive multiple 2017 Edison Awards for innovation in three product categories including:
BUOY Smart Home Water Meter in Energy and Sustainability
NORTON CORE Secure WiFi Router in Consumer Electronics
MOLEKULE Molecular Air Purifier in Applied Technology
“Thrilled to have some of our innovative collaborations recognized,” said Walter Herbst, Chairman for Herbst Produkt. “This years Edison Awards are evidence that our team is doing great work and contributing to the growth of some amazing companies."
Selected from over 4000 global submissions and hundreds of finalists that made it into the medal round, the winners were announced early February and will be formally awarded during the black-tie Edison Awards Gala in New York City in April. The Edison Awards are the culmination of an annual, international competition designed to honor excellence in new product and service development, marketing, human-centered design and innovation.
The Edison Awards namesake, Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931), was an American-born inventor and businessman. Over the course of his life, Edison was awarded a staggering 1,093 U.S. patents for market-disrupting technologies such as the electric light bulb and phonograph.
Herbst and Symantec are proud to officially reveal the efforts of a multi-year collaboration, with the unveiling of Norton Core at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Long the leader in security software Core is Symantec's (NASDAQ SYMC) first ever investment in physical hardware, and is hoping to create a lasting and impactful hardware division that will ignite a design and development renaissance at the growing Fortune 500 company headquartered in the heart of Silicon Valley.
Herbst worked with Symantec to bring Core to life, from inception to launch, and weave together an emotional thread through brand development, hardware, packaging and strategy.
Off to a great start, the Wall St. Journal named CORE to it's list of Top 10 Innovations at the largest consumer technology trade show in the world where this year over 20,000 new products were unveiled.
