OPPORTUNITY

Thoughtful and inspired design has permeated almost every aspect of our lives.  Yet the commercial tools used in safety and industrial applications are clunky, uncomfortable and looked oppressively utilitarian.  In addition to the uninspired designs used by tradesman and professionals they were often unsafe.  

INSIGHT

Can we use research, process and good design principles to completely redefine commercial and consumer cutting tools, and propel a growing brand to the forefront of the industry?

DESIGN STRATEGY

Herbst has been working with SLICE since 2008 to completely reinterpret the experience of cutting -- from craft knives to scissors, box cutters to electrical tools SLICE has worked with Herbst to become the industry leader in ceramic blade technology.  With a distinct point-of-view the SLICE brand has a confidence that is unmatched.  Today more than half the Fortune 1000 use Slice ceramic-blade tools.
Herbst has driven a disciplined approach and built a visual design language (VDL) with a signature DNA that reinforces the SLICE brand attributes and exudes the confidence and boldness that their tools provide.  

RESULTS

With our signature BrandID approach SLICE has created an innovative assortment of award-winning products used by thousands of companies in more than 30 countries.
Year-over-year growth has consistently increased, with over 37% growth in 2016.
